Founded by Bob Shuster in 1984 as "The WebWerks", the company became "Webphoria.com" for many years before finally settling on the name "Hot Apple Spider Design", incorporating in 1998.

Bob also maintained his music publishing and arranging company, MusikWerks, founded in 1980.

Bob Shuster went on to found ProtonMedia in 1998. As president and technical director, Bob helped ProtonMedia became a major elearning and 3d virtual environment vendor, serving many fortune 500 and smaller companies.

Bob sold his interest in ProtonMedia and left the company in 2006, primarily to refocus his energies on Hot Apple Spider Design and MusikWerks Online.
